South Africa’s Ministry of Basic education is contemplating on scrapping off the school holidays to recover from lost time thats has affected the 2020 academic year.
Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus schools in South Africa have been closed for six weeks now.
Spokesperson to Angie Motsekga Minister of Basic education Elijah Mhlanga said the department of education is in support of the lockdown but are currently working on a plan to resume learning.
Mhlanga said they have a plan in place to make sure that learning continues. This means school holidays that are in due time will be cancelled to recover lost time.
The department of education has put in place radio and television educational programs to assist learners with studying during this lockdown period
