Good news for Kenyans as the Landlords and Tenants Association (LATAK) has pass out a directive that due to the impact of Covid-19 all tenants should stop paying rentals till further notice.

LATAK’s secretary general Ben Liyai said they had spoken to their members and came up with this solid agreement to suspend payment of rentals since businesses have stopped and the economy is under serious attack from the coronavirus outbreak.

Tenants will not be expected to pay any rentals for three months, April May and June. They also have been advised to report any form of harassment from tenants requesting rental money.

Liyai said tenants should not pay rentals until President Uhuru Kenyatta has uplifted the current national lockdown and business is back to normal.

Landlords on the other hand have been ordered not to evict of cut off electricity and water supply for their tenants.
