A protest in Johannesburg’s Booysens informal settlement in Eloff Street has erupted over food parcels.

The residents are protesting that they have not received food parcels since the lockdown began.

These people claim they have been surviving from collecting food from dump sites.

The residents of Booysens have blocked off roads from the Eloff extension.

Ward councillor Mongameli Mnyameni who is being accused for ignoring the plight of the residents says they is nothing much he can do except to wait for the turn of his ward to come and get the government’s food distribution program.
