Breaking: Zimbabwe Extends lockdown again

The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe has today re-extended the extended national lockdown by another two weeks.

Speaking live on national broadcaster Emmerson Mnangagwa said the lockdown which is due to end this weekend will be extended by yet another fortnight.

All people must wear masks.

Reopening of industry means all employees must undergo mandatory testing, wear masks, and sanitization.

Working hours from 8-3

Informal sectors remain closed.

Public transport only, no kombis or taxis.

Passengers must wear masks, sanitized upon boarding buses, social distancing maintained.

Schools, Churches, bars, gyms remain closed.

Online learning may be enhanced

Zimbabwe at this stage sits at 40 positive cases and four deaths related to the novel Coronavirus.

However the lockdown in Zimbabwe has not been very effective as most people could not adhere to the regulations as they had to go to crowded areas looking for basic commodities that are already in short supply in the nation.

Long queues of mealie-meal and other commodities have become common in Zimbabwe during the lockdown period making social distancing an impossibility.

More than ten thousand citizens have been arrested for breaching lockdown regulations in the country.
