A 91-year-old granny has died while queuing for her Sassa social grant money.
The old woman from Tshwane was earlier noticed using a pole as aid to stand on the queue. Asked what was wrong she said she wasn’t feeling well.
Daily Sun spoke to CPF member Patricia Sibiya who was helping the elderly queue for their grant money.
“She told me and my colleague she was feeling dizzy, so we carried her inside the plaza fo get a chair”
She said they tried contacting her family but no one could answer their phones.
The old woman was originally suffering from high blood pressure but had not taken her medication on that day.
Patricia says she got her something to eat and called for an ambulance. While she was helping other people she received news that the lady had passed away while seated.
Family of the deceased refused to comment on the incident, saying this was a private family matter.
She is the fourth person this year to die while on the queue waiting to collect pension money since the lockdown started.
