Police ban ZANU PF demonstration against America

Zimbabwe Republic Police in Harare have turned down an application by ZANU PF to stage a mass demonstration at the American Embassy in Harare against the murder of a black American George Floyd.
The demonstration was supposed to take place on the 4th of June.
In a response to an application made by Victor Matemadanda, the police said, “While the demonstration is for a noble cause, it contravenes Section 5(1) of SI 83 of 2020 of the Covid-19 lockdown offenses.
Take note that gatherings of whatever purpose, are prohibited during this period save for those exempted in the statutory instrument.
