Activist pressure groups and opposition political parties have called for yet another #ShutdownZimbabwe demonstration against the current regime themed #ZanuPFMustGo, #PeoplePower.

The new developments were announced by the Transform Zimbabwe political party leader – who is also part of the MDC Alliance party, Jacob Ngarivhume on Twitter last Friday.

The protest(s) is scheduled for the 31st of July. It is however not clarified if it is a 1-day event or will extend if its demands are met.

1. On the 31st of July I’m proposing a national demonstration. People are suffering so that Mnagagwa can live out his fantasy to be a president. As a people we need to think logically. pic.twitter.com/dRj64wTwFX

The demonstrations have been described as what promises to be the largest Zimbabwean demonstration after the August 16 shutdown that degenerated to violence and saw 6 recorded deaths and several members injured.

Through a series of emotional tweets that have gained traction in the microblogging site, the MDC Alliance member and leader of Transform Zimbabwe party pleaded with the public countrywide to join forces with him in what he reiterates as a people’s project not politically driven.

Demands of the 31st July demonstration are not yet specified but it is pretty clear from the trending hashtag, Zanu Pf political party “needs to go.”

Unlike much other pressure group or political leaders, Mr Jacob promises to lead from the front in the peaceful protests.

I’ll never ask people to do what I am not prepared to do. 31 July I will be at the front with other courageous Zimbabweans exercising our rights according to sec59 of the constitution. pic.twitter.com/4s2VvtjPa0

The publication’s efforts to reach out to Mr Jacob for comments and clarity on the demonstration demands and legality were fruitless.

Neither was is made clear to the public if the planned demonstrations were cleared by the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

FROM 31 July 2020, let us unite and fill the streets in every city, town and township; from Zambezi to Limpopo.
Enough is enough! #ZanuPFMustGo !
