The President of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that the sale and distribution of alcohol in the country has been suspended with immediate effect.
The country will remain on alert lockdown level 3 with most of the regulations being hardend.
Ramaphosa said they had expected the rise of cases. Alcohol crimes were increasing in the country therefore the need to suspend the sale of alcohol.
The President addressed the nation today he addressed that they is a serious concern in the rise of infections as some people are not adhering to the Covid-19 lockdown regulations.
He added that they have increased hospital facilities for more Covid-19 cases.
South Africa has today recorded 242 thousand positive cases of Covid-19 and slightly above 3 thousand deaths.
