Zim govt announces new schools reopening and exam dates
Schools in Zimbabwe will open in September 2020, starting with final examination classes. Grade 7 and Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations will begin on December 1.
Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told journalists in the capital, Harare, on Tuesday that Cabinet approved this arrangement.
Minister Mutsvangwa did not, however, reveal when other learners will return to class.
She said: “The school’s opening dates are 14 September 2020 for Cambridge Examination classes and 28 September 2020 for Zimsec Examination classes. Cabinet approved that the Zimsec Examinations should start on 1 December 2020.”
Regarding the safety of both learners and teachers, the minister said, “The ministry is working closely with other ministries and stakeholders to guarantee the safety of pupils and staff during the examinations period.”
She added that Standard Operating Procedures had been distributed to all schools ahead of a resumption of classes.
