Former Bafana Bafana Midfielder Maimane Phiri Gunned Down!

As people celebrate the festive, people are going out to have fun with their loved ones, they go to night clubs, tarvens, shebeens and anywhere where they feel they can have fun, when people are gathered, there is a possibility of getting on each other’s nerves and tempers go high, the same thing happened in Alexandra on Thursday night as former Bafana Bafana found himself in the middle of a confrontation and he got shot.

Rwpirtrs emerging suggests that the former Bafana Bafana midfielder found himself gunned down after he attempted to break down a fight that was hapleneing at his Pub in Alexandra.

It is alleged that a male suspect was having a fight with his girlfriend at his business, he tried to control the situation and the guy who was beating up his girlfriend produced a firearms and shot Phiri and his brother who’s name is not yet named.

According to a source, a member of the South African Police Services who attended the matter at the crime scene, Phiri was rushed to the hospital for medical attention, the victim also shot himself after realising that he has shot two people, he turned the gun on himself and shot himself, he reportedly died at the scene due to gunshot wounds.

“Two people were shot, one wounded near Madala Hostel at 4th Avenue Roosevelt. The shot, also shot himself dead.

Former Bafana Bafana and Moroka Swallows attacker, Maimane Alfred Phiri, the founder of MAPS Games was allegedly shot as well, Phiri was rushed to Edenvale Hospital together with the suspect, his brother unfortunately lost his life at the Masakhane Clinic where he was also rushed for medical attention.”

South Africa has been planning to ask all gun owners to surrender their guns without being proscecuted, this might be a good idea since many people are getting killed by illegal guns in this country.
