Uzalo’s Qhabanga Actor Siyabonga Shibe Faces Arrest Over Borrowed Car
Seasoned actor Siyabonga Shibe who is popularly known for playing one of the Majola brothers on The Wife and Qhabanga on Uzalo is facing arrest after he reportedly refused to return the keys of his friend’s car, a seven-seater Toyota Rumion.
This comes after businessman and musician Bhar, real name Sfiso Mshengu, opened the case at Durban Central police station on Monday night which is still being investigated.
Provincial police spokesperson Const Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed the development.
It is alleged that Bhar lent Shibe his seven-seater Toyota Rumion to use more than three weeks ago. The actor was expected to use the car for a week and bring it back as per agreement.
Further allegations are that Shibe refused to return the car until Bhar had to ask his tracking company to tow it back to him.
Bhar alleges that the car had clocked 10,000km when he forcebly took it from Shibe and it had missed a scheduled service.
As quoted by SowetanLive, Bhar said:
“After a week, Siyabonga started being arrogant to me. I gave him this car out of trust. Whenever I asked him to return my car, he would arrogantly tell me that he will pay me. To me it was not about money because I know Siyabonga and we come from the same area. I gave him my car because he wanted my help.”
Bhar said he had planned to use the car at the Hollywoodbets Durban July.
The publication reports that Shibe responded to the allegations saying he was surprised that Bhar has opened a case against him.
“I was not aware that there is an existing case opened against me. I told him I will give back his car keys. I can’t believe that he opened a case already.
“I said I will give him his money. When I borrowed the car we did not have a deadline. I was supposed to have the car the whole month. Even the payment did not have an expiry date.”
