etv Cancels Black Door Adult-Only Show

etv has put a stop to yet another risque ‘No Under 18’ show , a new development indicates.
Black Door, a new etv produced night show has been cancelled and will not be renewed for its second instalment.

This comes after the show pulled just below 2,6 million viewers at its first season peak

It seems discontinuing the show was an inevitable move for the TV station.

Black Door is a fascinating erotic adults-only soapie whose story is set in the high-class world of a pleasure-dome brothel owned by Mam’ Rebecca (Linda Sebezo).

The illegal brothel is where Mam’Rabecca’s business associates and community businessmen meet for dubious deals and sexual pleasures housed under one roof.

Black Door was star-studded with big names in the industry including Zamani Mbatha who played a leading role, Linda Sebezo, Velephi Mnisi, Sello Ramalohloane and SK Khoza among many.

The adult-only drama was launched on the channel on April 2022 and was seen as the replacement for a series of midnight adult films that dominated the television station back in the day.

The free-to-air broadcaster is popular for its R-Rated adult film series Emmanuelle which got banned back in 2015.

Black Door producers, Black Brain revealed they wanted to push the boundaries in making the show, just like in Emmanuella.

But, it turns out the move did not attract as many viewers as expected – and as compared to Emmanuella.

However, Phil Mphela an online entertainment commentator believes the show was not necessarily a dud numbers-wise since it had managed to get a relatively good share of audience slot when compared to other shows running on the channel.

“Pulling just under 2.6-million viewers peak — with an audience share of 37.4% for its timeslot, the show was not a dud, numbers-wise,” Phil says.
