Tragic Twist: Bully Who Tormented Lufuno Takes Her 0wn L!fe Amidst Ghostly Haunting
Two years ago, the nation was shocked by the heartbreaking death of 15-year-old Lufuno Mavhunga, a Limpopo pupil who took her own life after being viciously bullied.
In April of that year, just hours after being assaulted by a fellow student at Mbilwi Secondary School, Lufuno overdosed on pills. The assault, recorded and circulated on social media, showed her being repeatedly slapped by the bully, a video that sparked outrage and brought attention to the scourge of school bullying.
Lufuno’s family, still grappling with their immense loss, faced the added burden of unresolved forgiveness. Her brother, Dakalo Mavhunga, revealed that while the family wished for peace, the process of forgiveness was hindered as the bully’s family had never formally reached out to ask for it.
Dakalo expressed that true forgiveness takes time and requires a sincere gesture, which had been absent in their case.
The tragedy of Lufuno’s death resonated deeply across the country, highlighting the damaging consequences of bullying. Dakalo also shared how the trauma had impacted their mother’s health, making the family’s loss even more profound.
Lufuno, remembered for her joyful presence, especially during festive times, left a void that her family struggles to fill.
Lufuno was laid to rest on April 17 in Limpopo, closing a painful chapter for the Mavhunga family. The bully, a 15-year-old girl, was arrested and charged with assault, with the case initially set to be heard in court in January 2022.
However, a chilling new development has surfaced. Reports confirm that the girl who bullied Lufuno has now taken her own life. According to SABC News, the girl was allegedly haunted by visions of Lufuno’s ghost. In a bizarre twist, it was said that just before her death, she confessed to her mother that she had been hearing voices—voices of Lufuno calling her to join her.
These events have stirred widespread speculation about the supernatural, leaving the community grappling with the eerie sense of karma taking its course.
