Karabo Magongwa has made great strides in his acting career.
When the 15-year-old was five years old, she costarred with actor Richard Lekunku in a commercial that won over South Africans’ hearts.
A small girl was shown teaching her father how to eat biscuits in the Oreo biscuit commercial.
She currently plays a major role in House of Zwide, the most watched soap drama on e.tv. She pretends to be Keletso Molapo.
Since a young age, Karabo Magongwa has had a strong affinity for performing. Her ascent to fame has been remarkable, as she has landed prominent parts in prestigious TV series. She has also collaborated with some of the best Mzansi performers and actresses, including Winnie Ntshaba, Vusi Kunene, and Nefisa Mkhabela.
The actress grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she was born. Who are the parents of Karabo Magongwa? Patricia is her mom. Conversely, hardly much is known about her father. Determining whether or if she has siblings is another difficult task. She is presumably the lone child in her household.
With her mother’s help, the dream has come true.
It was all just a daydream when it started. Since she was three years old, she had always wanted to perform, and now she was fascinated with it. When she was six years old, her mother registered her with an organization. Karabo Magongwa is represented by an agency called FCB Africa.
The agency was tasked with creating the ad that catapulted her to national prominence. Her debut was in an advertisement for Oreo biscuits. Some called her “the Oreo girl.” Later, she made an appearance in an app commercial for Standard Bank.
Karabo, a Soweto native from Snake Park, talked with SunBuzz about her beginnings in the entertainment industry.
She attended Johannesburg International Primary School to earn her grade R certification. Since she was a young child, she had always desired to be an actress.
My mom told me that I used to play in front of the mirror a lot, acting. And whenever I would see a child playing a role on TV, I’d always say I could do that as well or even better than that person. So she looked for an agent for me, and when she found one, we went for auditions.
“I did everything they asked me to do, and I became an actress,” she said.
She enjoys acting on House of Zwide and collaborating with big performers like Vusi Kunene, Winnie Ntshaba, Motlatsi Mafatshe, and Jeffery Sekele.
“The last year has been incredible. Despite the fact that they are famous actors, we have all become like a large family. What I enjoy about the actors is that, despite their celebrity, they don’t have enormous egos.”
The new season of House of Zwide premiered last month, and Karabo predicts that viewers will be hooked to their televisions because it is so compelling.
