Shebeshxt tattoos his daughter’s face on leg
Rapper Lehlogonolo Chauke, affectionately known by his stage name Shebeshxt, has recently shared a deeply personal tribute to his late daughter, Onthatile Gladys, by getting another tattoo of her face inked on his leg. This act of remembrance comes following an unimaginable tragedy that has left the artist grappling with profound grief and loss.
In June, Chauke was involved in a devastating car accident that not only left him with serious injuries but also claimed the life of his beloved nine-year-old daughter, Onthatile. The impact of this horrific incident has been felt far and wide, and Shebeshxt is now navigating the turbulent waters of grief while trying to heal physically and emotionally.
Recently, social media became the platform for Chauke’s heartfelt expression of love for his daughter. In a poignant post, he shared the new tattoo along with a message that resonates with every parent who has experienced the loss of a child: “I miss you every second of my life. Until we meet again, my love. Onthatile Gladys, my daughter,” he wrote, underscoring the deep pain he feels with crying emoticons that vividly depict his heartbreak, according to Times LIVE.
This latest tattoo is not the first tribute Chauke has dedicated to his daughter. Just weeks after his release from the hospital, he unveiled the first tattoo, a testament to the ongoing love and remembrance he holds close to his heart. The second tattoo serves as a further reminder of Onthatile’s place in his life, symbolizing an indelible bond that continues even in her physical absence.
The aftermath of the accident has been incredibly challenging for Chauke.
Lot Ramusi, his lawyer and family spokesperson, revealed in an interview with TimesLIVE that Shebeshxt is currently undergoing trauma counseling alongside his girlfriend.
“Shebeshxt is devastated, and he’ll be in trauma counselling together with his girlfriend over the loss of their daughter. Emotionally, he is not OK, which is obvious from what they have endured with the loss of life,” Ramusi stated. He emphasized that, at this moment, Chauke is focusing on exercises and regaining his mental health, aiming to rebuild his life after such a significant loss.
Despite the heavy emotional burden, Shebeshxt is preparing to make a comeback on stage with a concert themed “My Music, My Story.” Set to take place on September 28 at the Opera Theatre in Pretoria, this show will allow Chauke to share his story, his experiences, and the journey of healing that he is currently navigating. It will be a powerful moment to connect with fans, honor his daughter’s memory, and demonstrate resilience in the face of overwhelming adversity.
Onthatile was a bright young student, a grade 3 pupil at Northern Academy in Polokwane, Limpopo. Her bright smile and spirit were tragically cut short when Chauke’s vehicle collided with a truck while he was transporting her to her mother’s home before heading to an ANC Siyanqoba rally concert in Lebowakgomo.
The loss of a child is a pain that no parent should endure, and Chauke’s efforts to keep her memory alive through tattoos and music serve as a testament to the love that continues to exist beyond life.
