Praise Poet and Singer Jessica Mbangeni dies
South African praise poet and Singer Bishop/ Dr Jessica Mbangeni has sadly passed away, the family confirmed in a media statement.
While the family did not reveal the details surrounding Jessica’s death they described her as a source of inspiration to many.
“Her contributions to our community and the world as a praise poet and spiritual leader and cultural ambassador were immeasurable and her legacy will live on in the heart of those she touched,” read the statement.
The family asked for privacy in this difficult time.
“We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn her passing. We are deeply appreciative of the love and support from friends, fans and the community, but we request that you give us the space to grieve as a family,” further read the statement.
Jessica, who was born and raised in Nqamakwe, Eastern Cape, rose to success after being part of the Soweto Gospel Choir.
She has a South African Traditional Music award (Safta) and a South African Music Award (Sama).
Details of her memorial as well as funeral arrangements are yet to be shared.
