Gogo Skhotheni Fires Back at Gogo Maweni Over Allegations About Her Family
Gogo Skhotheni, a popular South African sangoma and reality TV star, has publicly responded to comments made by fellow sangoma Gogo Maweni. The tension between the two has escalated after Maweni made snarky remarks during an Instagram live session with social media personalities Inno Morolong and Musa Khawula, suggesting that Skhotheni was using her children in traditional rituals.
In an interview with TshisaLIVE, Skhotheni expressed her disappointment and frustration, particularly with Maweni’s comments about her son, who has been battling health issues since birth. “She spoke about my son who is sick and has been admitted to the hospital for about 12 months.
I’ve shared my son’s journey on social media; he was born prematurely,” Skhotheni explained. She added that she initially ignored the comments about her physical appearance but drew the line when Maweni implied that her son’s illness was a result of her using him in rituals.
Skhotheni didn’t hold back in her response, making it clear that she wasn’t intimidated by Maweni’s words. She urged Maweni to handle their differences traditionally rather than through social media antics.
“I’m not afraid of you with all that you have. If you want to scare me by going around talking about me, get into the ndumba (a traditional healing space) and deal with me if you have a problem with me, don’t go making noise on social media,” Skhotheni said in a live video.
She emphasized that the mention of her children was a step too far and accused Maweni of crossing boundaries.
The drama between the two has not been limited to just these comments.
Recently, a video surfaced in which Maweni alleged that Skhotheni’s husband is bisexual. Skhotheni addressed this claim, reiterating her love and commitment to her husband and questioning why Maweni would involve herself in her personal matters.
“She went on and said my husband is bisexual, and in that department, if he is, why would it be her problem? My husband sleeps with me and not her. I love my husband, and he loves me too, so she must just rest and live her life and back off from my family,” Skhotheni stated.
On her Instagram, Skhotheni shared her thoughts in a more measured tone, calling for Maweni to cease her public attacks and to respect her family’s privacy. Maweni, in response, posted a message suggesting that she had tried to end their feud by blocking Skhotheni and deleting her number, but felt betrayed by Skhotheni’s continued public comments.
As the back-and-forth continues, fans and followers of both sangomas are left watching closely, waiting to see if the two will ever reconcile their differences or if the feud will escalate further.
