Pretty exits Skeem Saam together with Lehasa

After 13 episodes and  13 years of gracing our television screens every weekday  fans have to say a painful goodbye to a character they have watched grow from being a young girl into a grown woman.

Lerato Marabe who plays the role of Pretty Seakamela on Skeem Saam is set to exit the soapie after 13 good years of great acting, a source has told IndAfrica.

Lerato has been with the show since it’s inception when the first ever episode aired on 13 October 2011.

She exits the show together with her on-screen lover Cedric Fourie  who plays the character of Lehasa Maphosa.

IndAfrica has it on good report that the two characters are exiting the show simultaneously due to contractual disputes with the producers and directors of the show.

“The show is not going in the direction which she wishes,” said the source.

“She wishes to grow as an actress but the current set up isn’t allowing her to do so. Her storyline has been revolving around the same issues over and over again,” he added.

Fans of the show have grown fond of Pretty as she resonates with the lifestyles of most South African girls. Her character is that of a resilient girl child who fights her way up and finds true love but some how something comes and ruins it.

News of Pretty’s exit comes at a time when fans are still coming to terms with the exit of Lehasa Maphosa.

Lehasa has been found guilty of murder and has been sentenced to life imprisonment, this means the end of his storyline.

Pretty will just dissappear from the screens without any story, this is to make way for her to come back if ever she decides to do so.

“No, her character is not being written off. They will just pause it a bit and focus on other issues this September as they work on a solution for her,” IndAfrica was told by the source.

The source made it clear that Lehasa’s character has been written off and won’t be coming back to the screens.
